# Overview
[1Password](https://1password.com/) is a popular password manager and digital vault that helps users securely store and manage their sensitive information such as passwords, credit card details, secure notes, and more. 1Password data is end-to-end encrypted to keep it safe at rest and in transit, using AES-GCM-256 authenticated encryption.

## Functionality & Features
You really have to use 1Password to truly get a feel of how fluid it is. It's ease of use makes it the #1 piece of software I can't live without.

### Watchtower
1Password's [Watchtower](https://watchtower.1password.com/) feature helps you stay informed about security breaches and compromised websites. It notifies you if any of your stored accounts are associated with security vulnerabilities, prompting you to take action and update your affected passwords.
> **Watchtower integrates with [Have I Been Pwned](https://haveibeenpwned.com/)** to see if any of your passwords have appeared in data breaches. It also flags weak or duplicate passwords, and websites where you can turn on two-factor authentication. All checks happen on your device so your data stays completely private.

## Design
The [design](https://1password.com/product/) of 1Password is absolutely outstanding. As a sucker for clean UI/UX, it's one of my favorite things about the app, and a deciding factor in any software that I have for personal use. It has a modern and consistent design not only on desktop but also carries over to the mobile apps as well. The design is optimized for easy navigation, and features vibrant iconography. The inclusion of a dark mode option allows users additional aesthetic flexibility.

As big of a fan I am of 1Password, it is not the *only* password manager out there worth using. It's better to use a password manager than to not use one at all. If you aren't already using a password manager, and *especially* if you are an aspiring infosec professional, do your research and start using one starting now.
